Leadership from the top needed to spearhead productivity shift

25 October, 2016

Experts agreed at a recent panel debate that if the UK is to address its productivity performance that currently sees it lag 20% behind the G7 average in terms of output, then the adoption of digital technology solutions will be critical. The panel debate was chaired by Juergen Maier, chief executive, Siemens UK & Ireland who summarised: “The country requires the leadership and ambition at the top of businesses to spearhead a productivity shift and ensure the UK can make the most of the great opportunity Industry 4.0 provides.”

He added, that the panel debate highlighted that if we proactively promote the digitisation of industry, the country can start on a digital journey to deliver the benefits of the so-called Fourth Industrial Revolution; benefits that translate into better prosperity, economic growth and the creation of increased numbers of high value jobs for our citizens.
